Our Company

We have designed and developed the WhirlAway hydroclonic PAD (pulverizing air dryer) and increased its versatility over any non-thermal drying technology that we know of in the marketplace today.

  • Phase 1 - The wet feed is dispersed into a high velocity patented rotary Mach1 feeder in the startup process of the system. In this zone, the wet product first comes into contact with a high velocity shearing, evaporating and drying airstream.
  • Phase 2 - The product continues drying by a prolonged retention time as it passes through the numerous drying hydroclonic.
  • Phase 3 - The centrifugal effect of an airstream passing around a curve concentrates the product into a shearing turbulent stream transferring it into a laminar flow as the product exits each hydroclonic dryer, at which time it passes into the product collection system.

This proprietary extension of residence time enables the PAD dryer to process many materials which were traditionally regarded as difficult to dry in a conventional thermal or heat sensitive dryer. Depending on the specific application, we at WhirlAway Drying Systems offer our PAD in custom designed configurations to provide flexibility in site setup and optimal performance.

The PAD has been used to dry products from many industries including food, paper sludge, mineral and animal waste.  For slurries, pastes, or sticky materials, Our specifically designed feeder system allows for slurries, pastes and other sticky materials to be dried in a self-cleaning environment.

Particle residence time is extremely important and enhanced by our patented re-energized hydrocyclones process. With regard to drying corn or other grains, in addition to avoiding high natural gas costs, the absence of heat creates a higher quality end product with 30 percent higher protein content than thermally dried corn, and 50 percent higher fat content.  The ability for the end product to be pelletized or briquetted to a higher density material will also save on transportation costs.

The absence of heat also means the PAD does not create VOCs and odors in the range that a thermal dryer creates. This was proven by an independent on site emissions test which data showed the VOCs from the discharge were almost 70% percent less than the accepted level of VOCs coming from a thermal oxidizer.

Whirlaway Drying Systems wants to be the solution to your green drying needs.
